McLeod Creek Shetlands, Located in the beautiful Robson Valley, between the Rocky and Caribou Mountain ranges.
Our family is proud to be part of the Breeding and Preservation of this beautiful traditional style of pony. My parents began to assemble the few remaining ponies of the heavier, and quieter type, much like the temperament of the original pit pony. We were fortunate enough to add some of the Best Bloodlines, tracing back to the UK, and original ponies imported to Canada and the United States.
Mcleod Creek has been raising, training and showing Shetlands since 1982. We currently have the largest herd of Registered Shetlands in Canada, with 42 ponies located on our 2 locations. The origainal farm in Gibbons Alberta, which my parents have kept a number of breeding mares and a stallion.
All of the younger ponies come to our ranch in McBride, for training. Canadian Registry Shetland ponies are considered critically endangered. There are fewer than 15 foals registered a year with the lowest number in the past 10 years being 3 ponies.
In the past few years, we have had the opportunity add color, with keeping true to the traditional style. We can't wait to see more roan, palamino, and buckskin babies showing up in our herd!
These ponies will continue to be a huge part of our families lives. The support and enthusiasm we all have is what's going to bring the pony back.
As well, we have limited spots available for harness training. Please contact us for informaition
